Develop a Clear Sense of Direction

A person with a clear purpose will make progress on even the roughest road. A person with no purpose will make no progress on even the smoothest road. -Thomas Carlyle

I knew it! The reason I'm not getting anywhere is because I don't have any sense of solid direction yet. Huh! it's pretty sad. It's one thing I should cultivate and figure out now before embarking or risking on anything.

I know I want to be successful. But I'm clueless as to what to really do in order for me to get it. I have been thinking a lot of bad things about myself lately. Maybe that's one that I should work out - to be positive about myself even if the going gets tough or bad memories haunt me.

"You become what you think about most of the time." This is one thing that I should always remember. They said that successful people think about their goals most of the time.

Seven-step formula for setting and achieving goals

  1. Decide exactly what I want in each area of my life, especially in my financial life.
  2. Write down my goals clearly and specifically.
  3. Set a deadline for each goal. Set subdeadlines if a goal is big enough. Give myself a target to aim at.
  4. Make a list of everything I can think of that I will have to do to achieve each goal.
  5. Organize my list into a plan of action. Determine what I am going to do first and what I will do later. Decide what is important and what is less important.
  6. Take action on my plan immediately.
  7. Do something everyday that moves me at least one step closer to my most important goal.

Assignment:

  1. Take a sheet of paper and write the word "Goals" at the top page with today's date.
  2. Make a list of 10 goals that I would like to achieve over the next 12 months.
  3. Write goals in the present tense, as though a year has passed and I have already achieved them.
  4. Go over the list of 10 goals and ask myself this question, "Which one goal on this list, if I were to achieve it, would have the greatest positive impact on my life?"
  5. Make that goal my number one goal for the future.
  6. Set a deadline, make a plan, take action on my plan.
  7. Do something every day that moves me toward that goal.

Success Secret #1

Dream Big Dreams

Dream big dreams; only big dreams have the power to move men's souls. - Marcus Aurelius

I have to allow myself to imagine and fantasize the kind of life that I'd like to live. What is it that I want? Money, fame, happiness, comfort, style, luxury, abundance of the universe, huge money in my bank accounts, higher education, all the resources, everything?

As I say all of the above things, I am certain I want a comfortable life - a life which will give me the necessary things I want and for my family - some luxuries, some extravagant vacations to spend my money with...and of course, some charitable things to do for those who are needy.

I need to dream big to accommodate all of my wants and needs and the needs of others. What do I dream of? I dream of becoming a successful business leader.

  1. Know the business jargons
  2. Know the most lucrative business at a minimum capital and start doing it
  3. Be the best of what I can be
  4. Be a dreamer

Welcome note to all would-be self-made millionaires!

This blog is more of a Eureka! blog. I found the right thing to blog!

I have been thinking why in this world are there rich people and why are there who share the scantiness of the universe. I'm 28 and would in every detail wanted to obtain "financial freedom" in the near future.  So this blog is all about getting to be a self-made millionaire. I can feel it. My intuition tells me so. In a few years time, I'll gonna get the good life I deserve.  It's important to remember though what Brian Tracy says that "the most important factor in achieving great financial success is not the money. It is the kind of person (you) I have to become to earn that money and then hold on to it".

I know many of us are thinking the same question - how to be well-off or rich enough- to be able to help our families, relatives and our needy neighborhood. Many of us may have been searching for a decade of getting to know the highest paid job and start working on it and eventually retire at a young age to savor the goodness of life and the sweetness of our labor.

That's how I envision myself. I want to retire at an early age. I will try to feed my mind with the best of the journals, books, autobiographies of the world's greatest leaders, richest men and try to emulate the good deeds and traits that they have.

Since you are reading this blog, I know that you have a thing or two to say. I welcome you.

Walk with me as we traverse the road to being a self-made millionaire.

P.S.

About the header, I chose the above header because successful people always look toward the bright side of the day. There is always sunshine that await them everyday. And so though it's evening right now in my place, allow me to greet you, "Good morning".

Feel free to add me selfmademillion in your contacts, buddy!
